On March 6th 2008, women and girls of all ages joined Paul Gaustad at Hockey Night in Buffalo - An evening for women and girls.  Over 125 women and girls met with Paul Gaustad at the Harbour Club.  Paul discussed the sacrifices his mother made to support him, and the importance of giving women and girls opportunities.  Jon Christiano, Professional Scout, shared that he believes women will become pro-scouts for NHL teams soon.

After a delicious meal sponsored by Delaware North, the women and girls were able to test their hockey shooting skills, try on Ryan Miller's equipment, and run through a fitness circuit.  Sabretooth was at the event to sign autographs and provide tattoos.  There were wonderful basket items, like tickets to see Wicked at Sheas, and silent auction items including a signed Ryan Miller child's jersey.

Understanding Hockey raised over $ 10,000 for WNY Women's Fund.  The event was sponsored by BlueCross BlueShield of WNY, Buffalo Sabres, Conesus Fest for Charity, Delaware North, Doran & Murphy, and Summer Street Capital.   The Sabres organization was incredibly generous with their time and staff - thank you Sabres for supporting the WNY Women's Fund!

On March 10, 2008 at the Buffalo Sabres vs. NY Rangers game,500 autographed Sabres hats were sold for a $ 20 donation.  The hats sold-out in one hour and twenty minutes - before the game even began!  The hats were one-of-a-kind pink Sabres hats donated by New Era.  Each Buffalo Sabre signed 25 hats. It was a surprise until after you purchased the hat who signed the hat.

The event raised $ 10,000 for the WNY Women's Fund.
